Retro Process - Leaded Glass Window to Insulated Glass Unit

Turning a single glazed leaded glass window into a triple glazed insulated window (retrofit) is a detailed process. When done properly, the finished product has many benefits which include:

1: Eliminating leaks associated with single glazed windows.
2: Stabilizing weak windows without the need of rebars.
3: The window becomes more impact resistant.
4: The sealed system becomes more energy efficient.

Finished IG Inside
The finished product is as
beautiful as it is energy
efficient.
Finished IG Outside

The window is disassembled
and all old metal caming is
removed.
4. Clean Glass
Step 4:
Each piece of glass is
carefully cleaned, removing
all old grouting.

5. Rebuild Panel
Step 5:
The window is carefully
reassembled using
Zinc (Silver) or
Patina (Black) metal
caming
.
6. Apply Tempered Glass
Step 6:
A dessicant seal is applied
and both panes of tempered
glass are set in place.

7. Roller Press
Step 7:
The unit is run through
our heated roller press,
completing the sealing
process.
8. Finished IG Unit
Step 8:
The finished unit is now
ready to be installed.
